Information and Participation

Digitalisation permeates public life in almost all areas. Whether e-government – i.e. the digital processing of public services -, mobility or energy, or ecologically efficient and progressive urban development – almost all major European cities want to become “smart cities”.

What does it mean for a city and what challenges are to be mastered before a city is really “smart”? How far have intelligent solutions and their implementation advanced in the areas of e-government, mobility and energy, and how sustainable are they? How much “smart” does urban space and society tolerate and how much of it is feasible at all?

In the context of our conference “Digital Society/Smart City: Simply smart – The intelligent city of tomorrow”, we want to get to the bottom of these questions and look forward to the smart city of tomorrow.
